A lot has changed since my first post, and I really do mean a lot! We've changed our direction completely, initially we were going with the music producer Esion but after contact with the rock band The Brink, we decided to change and work with one of their songs due to the prospect of it becoming the actual video for the song once they release their album. Providing its good enough that is.
We've had to come up with completely new concepts for our video, and are no longer going with a post apocalyptic/revolution theme, after discussions with the band on what style video they envisage, in this case a more contemporary love-song style.
We have also decided on our roles in the group. I am taking on the role of Creative Director, molding the style and content of the Video, I am also the primary liaison with the band. Ben is the Technical Director and is responsible with the technical aspects of filming as he has the most experience with shooting and computer programmes. Alec is our Writer and Copywriter and will be constructing the script/storyline for our eventual final piece once the band has chosen which pitch to use. Alec will also be providing some of the equipment needed for shooting. Jack is the group's Coordinator and is responsible for the organisation of the group from filming to editing and is also capable to input in all areas.
I have been in frequent contact with Matt, the lead singer of the band. We have discussed which of their songs is best to chose from, and between the band and the four of us we decided on using the song 'Can I Find You' for our music video. We then had a quick discussion on what style video they want, i.e. abstract or conventional. They said that they were looking for something more traditional. We also moved on to asking the band what made them come up with the song and to tell us their interpretation, this gave us enough information to start developing our own pitches.
